GDPR UPDATE 2018
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – Effective 25th May 2018
New legislation means you control how we collect, use and store your personal data. GDPR covers the protection of personal data, protection against unlawful processing of such, and unrestricted movement of such within the EU.
1. Personal data
1.1 AMET Ltd will use data collected from you for the following purposes:
Marketing (see 7 - ‘Your rights’)
AMET Ltd approved course(s)
Production of quotations and contracts
1.2 When you contact AMET Ltd you are consenting to ongoing dialogue, which you can request to ‘opt out’ at any stage (see 7.4 – ‘Your rights’)
1.3 You will be asked to provide personal data, and complete AMET Ltd forms, as and when requested to do so by AMET Ltd approved personnel. This information will be used solely for the purposes of producing appropriate certification as required under UK CAA/EASA legislation, and stored as per our data retention policy (see 4 – ‘Retaining and deleting personal data’)
2. Website and cookies
2.1 Visitors to the AMET Ltd website should check/adjust their individual browser settings relating to ‘cookies’ and restrict and/or delete these as necessary.
2.2 The AMET Ltd website is externally hosted by WIX.com.
3. Providing your personal data to others
3.1 AMET Ltd do not pass your personal data on to any third-party companies.
3.2 AMET Ltd may be required to disclose your personal data where necessary and solely for compliance with a legal obligation (including validation of technical qualifications), to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of another natural person. AMET Ltd may also disclose your personal data where such disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, whether in court proceedings or in an administrative or out-of-court procedure.
3.3 Financial services GDPR rules for the customer and supplier banks, or other service providers, will apply for the purposes of all financial transactions.
3.4 No customer financial data will be passed onto a third company without permission.
3.5 AMET Ltd may be required to disclose your personal financial data where necessary and solely for compliance with a legal obligation, to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of another natural person. AMET Ltd may also disclose your personal financial data where such disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, whether in court proceedings or in an administrative or out-of-court procedure.
3.6 Data obtained is secured on a remote server at our UK Head Office with access restricted to Accountable Manager authorised AMET Ltd personnel only. Access to this data will be only as required in line with AMET Ltd business and our legal obligations.
3.7 No personal information held by AMET Ltd is stored outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
4. Retaining and deleting personal data
4.1 Our data retention policies and procedures are designed to ensure we comply with our legal obligations and all personal data that AMET Ltd process will not be kept longer than is necessary for that purpose.
4.2 Personal data obtained in paper format will be retained for a maximum of 3 years.
4.3 Personal data will be transferred to digital format after the 3 year retention period and is required to be kept for the duration of AMET Ltd company authorisation (see 8.2 and 8.3).
4.4 Retention of stated personal information, as previously stated, is essential for compliance with legal obligations to which AMET Ltd are subject.
5.1 When requested, some personal information may be forwarded to the UK CAA/EASA in line to meet our legal, regulatory and governmental obligations.
5.2 When requested, some information may be provided to your employer, or other legal body, to confirm attendance dates/duration on an AMET Ltd course.
6.1 Updates and amendments to this policy will be published on our website.
6.2 You should check this page from time to time to ensure you are happy with any changes to this policy.
7. Your rights
7.1 Full guidance and information regarding your rights under data protection law can be obtained from the appropriate regulatory authority.
7.2 You have the right to:
- Restrict processing
- Data portability
- Complain to a supervisory authority
- Withdraw consent
7.3 In agreeing to this privacy notice you are consenting to AMET Ltd processing your personal information for the specific purposes outlined in this notice and need not do anything further.
7.4 Consent to the use of your personal data can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the designated DPO for AMET Ltd (see 9 – ‘Data Protection Officer’).
